Course Description:

You will learn: the dynamic Earth systems, content regarding the geological history of the Earth, structure and composition of the Earth, forces that reshape the Earth's crust, Earth's position in the universe, and geologic and atmospheric structures of the planets. You will learn how to use a variety of equipment and technological applications to study our planet and the universe. This course has developed a partnership with the Clackamas Community College and its Haggart Observatory. Students will be required to attend an evening feild trip to the observatory. You will engage in; analysis and categorization of various rocks and minerals, monitoring current earthquakes and other tectonic activities. Projects include; evaluating erosion and sedimentation behavior, Internet research on a variety of topics in astronomy, and research on planetary and lunar objects in our solar system.
